Welcome
to the Logic Users of Garritan Personal Orchestra Page. This page is designed
to provide a resource for Apple/Emagic Logic and GarageBand users. GPO
can be used as an Audio Units plug-in with Logic and GarageBand under
OSX. Below you will find helpful information and resources. GPO is working
very well with Logic 7. Although GPO is used by many Logic and GarageBand
users with good results there are a few issues that have to do with bugs
in previous versions of Logic, the way Logic handles MIDI, and previous
issues with the Kontakt Player. Almost all of the remaining issues have
been resolved with the latest version of Logic 7. Make sure to get the
latest update for Logic at the Apple/Emagic site and the latest Kontakt
player update. If you have any Logic files or information to contribute
feel free to contact us.

The Entire GOS library has been converted and programmed for the
EXS24 format. The library translates well altough there are some
features that are not available in EXS. MaestroTools functionality
(Legato Tool, Alternating Bows, Variability) are available in the
Logic Environment Maestro Tools that Roman Beilharz programmed and
is available with the library. These functions should work directly
within Logic. Additional info here

Peter
Delano |
Peter
Delano has created two Logic Environment files as a workaround to
the Logic 'Reset to "0" Bug which is in prior versions of Logic (Logic
7 fixes this). The first environment allows you to convert incominig
Mod Wheel data information into track automatation data. This will
avoid the "return to zero" bug in Logic. The second converts Mod Wheel,
CC#20, #22 & 24 into automation data. The first one deal with only
mod wheel whereas the second one incorporates track-based automation
control of GPO's other control parameters (portamento, and the 2 variation
knobs) and includes a few cable switchers for working with multiple
GPO instances. |

'Graphic Offset Bug'
(mouse pointer is noticeably off)
Fixed
in Logic 6
|
This is a bug in Logic 6 and prior versions which effects Native
Instruments products and the word from Emagic is that this has been
fixed in the new version of Logic Pro and that the fix will be implemented
in the other Logic versions soon. We've heard from some users that
this problem no longer exists in newer versions of Logic. Make sure
to download the latest Logic update at the Apple/Emagic site.

WORKAROUND submitted by Christian Bocher
"Open Logic. (Autoload in my case) Logic goes through it's
paces but does not load up an arrange page. The Logic headers are
all there tho. -go to "File" -choose "Open Recent"
and pick a song that has already been worked on and preferably gui
issue free. (at this point if I were to choose "open"
and search for the song I wanted, the gui issue would be there)
_once the bug free song has been opened you can navigate to autoload
or any other song you like..."

Logic
'Stuck Notes" Problem |
If
notes are getting stuck notes after you play them, try this: In "Options/Preferences"
there's an option for "Reset Preferences". This offers a menu of controllers
that are to be reset when the transport is stopped. CC1 IS on the
list, but (of course), it's broken - known Logic bug. The Panic/All
Notes Off feature works by double-clicking the "Input/Output" window
on the Logic transport. This should kill the hung notes. |

Logic
'Reset to "0" Bug':
(Mod Wheel Data resets to "0" whenever you hit stop).
Fixed
in Logic 7
|
NOTE:
This bug has been fixed in Logic 7. For prior versions refer to
the workaround below or use the X-Custom folder available
at the update section of our website.
This
is a concern with GPO which relies heavily on the mod wheel. The
design of Logic is such that the the Mod wheel resets whenever you
hit stop. Since ModWheel controls volume, users can't hear their
music when they hit play again. The logic reset to "0" bug has been
fixed in Logic 7. The user has the option in preferences to cofigure
logic to retain current controller settings or to reset them.

WORKAROUND: Submitted by
Peter Delano
Peter Delano has created Logic Environment files as a workaround.
These will inset MIDI data at the beginning of the track to avoid
the reset to "0" bug. These files are provided above.

Using LOGIC 5.5 WITH GPO
By Tom Hopkins
|
Logic
for PC has been discontinued and is no longer being supported. Since
there have been no updates for a couple of years, Logic on PC has
some of the most vexing problems and we've been exploring various
workarounds off and on for several months and, finally, we think
we have found workarounds for virtually all of the problems. There
are some compromises but these ideas at least make Logic for PC
usable. For the WORKAROUNDS pdf file
go here.
